Principals’ Profiles

John S. Bowser, GSC

Principal & Operations Manager

Bowser

Bringing over 40 years of experience to his role, Principal John Bowser is TASK’s Operations Manager. He has overall responsibility for daily project management and field operations, tendering of projects and regular inspections with all site superintendents. He is directly involved in the coordination of trades, scheduling and cost control and leads the value analysis and constructibility reviews during design development. Bowser’s extensive knowledge of construction technology and innovative approach often lead to significant cost savings and time for the client.

Prior to launching TASK with John Hiebert, Bowser was a partner in a construction management firm in Burnaby where he led teams that completed a number of large-scale projects such as the BC Film Studios and facilities for Blackcomb Skiing Enterprises. He also worked as the lead superintendent for a major pre-cast concrete contractor. At TASK, Bowser’s skills have been paramount in projects such as Harbour Centre, Esso Plaza, Fiberglass Canada and the Telus Whistler Conference Centre.

John has also earned the Canadian Construction Association’s Gold Seal for project management.

In his off-site hours, John Bowser is an avid if under-skilled golfer and an aspiring glass artist, as well as a proud grandpa.

John B. Hiebert, PQS (F), GSC

President & General Manager

As President, John Hiebert brings over 40 years of experience in the construction industry to his role as the firm’s General Manager and Partner-in-Charge of administration, systems, business development and client satisfaction.

Hiebert began his career as an estimator, contracts manager and superintendent on projects in southwestern BC. He has also worked as a construction superintendent and project manager for numerous industrial, civil and commercial facilities, including the $42 million renovation of the infamous Empress Hotel in Victoria.

He is a graduate of the BC Institute of Technology’s Building Technology program, holds the Professional Quantity Surveyor designation and is Gold Seal certified by the Canadian Construction Association.

He is a member of the Project Management Institute, the Construction Management Association of America and a former president of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. In October 2008, the Vancouver Regional Construction Association honored John with the Lifetime Achievement Award and just recently inducted John into their Lifetime Members group.

In his spare time, John can be seen in the fields of Alberta goose hunting with his wife and their 2 dogs.
