PDLLA-mPEG (Poly(D,L-lactide)-PEG-methyl ether) is a copolymer composed of poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with methyl ether end groups. PDLLA is a biodegradable polymer derived from lactic acid. It is commonly used in biomedical applications due to its biocompatibility and biodegradability. PDLLA can degrade into lactic acid, a naturally occurring compound metabolized by the body. PEG is a hydrophilic polymer known for its excellent biocompatibility and “stealth” properties. PEGylation, the process of attaching PEG chains to molecules, is often employed to enhance the solubility, stability, and circulation time of drugs and nanoparticles in biological systems. Methyl ether groups are terminal functional groups consisting of a methyl group (-CH3) linked to an ether oxygen atom (-O-CH3). They can be added to modify the physical properties or surface characteristics of the copolymer.
