PDLLA-PEG-PDLLA (Poly(D,L-lactide)-block-poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(D,L-lactide)) is a triblock copolymer consisting of two blocks of poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA) connected by a block of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). One of the primary applications of PDLLA-PEG-PDLLA is in the development of drug delivery systems. The hydrophilic PEG block provides water solubility and stealth properties, enabling prolonged circulation time in the bloodstream. Meanwhile, the hydrophobic PDLLA blocks can encapsulate hydrophobic drugs, providing sustained release and improved bioavailability. These copolymers can be formulated into nanoparticles, micelles, or hydrogels for targeted and controlled drug delivery to specific tissues or cells.
