Description

t-Boc-N-amido-PEG1-acid is a compound with a tert-butyloxycarbonyl (t-Boc) protected amino group, an amide linkage, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer with one repeat unit, and a carboxylic acid functional group. The t-Boc group is commonly used to protect amine functional groups in organic synthesis. It prevents undesired reactions of the amine group during synthesis and can be selectively removed under mild conditions to reveal the free amine group. This protected amine functionality provides a site for further functionalization or conjugation. PEG spacers are hydrophilic, biocompatible, and flexible, providing water solubility and reducing nonspecific interactions with biological molecules. The carboxylic acid functional group can undergo reactions with amine-containing molecules, such as peptides or proteins, to form stable amide bonds. It can also be activated for coupling reactions with other functional groups, enabling further conjugation or modification.
