Propargyl-PEG1-SS-PEG1-PFP ester is useful in tagging proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, or other biomolecules for imaging, tracking, or creating multifunctional bioconjugates. For instance, attaching fluorescent tags or drug molecules to proteins for cellular studies. The terminal alkyne (propargyl group) allows for highly efficient and specific conjugation with azide-containing biomolecules through copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC). This reaction forms stable triazole linkages, which are robust and bioorthogonal (not interfering with biological processes).
