Description

Poly(acrylamide) is a synthetic polymer derived from the monomer acrylamide. Modified forms of polyacrylamide can be used in drug delivery systems, particularly for the controlled release of drugs. In addition, polyacrylamide gels are used in electrophoresis for separating and analyzing biomolecules like DNA and proteins. These gels are commonly referred to as polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) gels.
