Description

N-(Biotinoyl)-N’-(iodoacetyl)ethylenediamine is used to selectively label proteins containing free cysteine residues. The iodoacetyl group reacts with the thiol (-SH) group of cysteine, forming a stable thioether bond. By labeling cysteine residues with N-(Biotinoyl)-N’-(iodoacetyl)ethylenediamine, researchers can identify and isolate interacting proteins via biotin-streptavidin affinity purification.
