Description

NOTA2tBu-N3 is often used to chelate radiometals like ^68Ga and ^64Cu for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. The azide functionality allows for facile conjugation to targeting molecules such as peptides, antibodies, or small molecules, enabling the development of targeted imaging agents for detecting cancer or other diseases. NOTA is highly effective in binding metal ions due to its ability to form stable, octahedral complexes with metals like Gallium-68 (^68Ga), Copper-64 (^64Cu), and others. The bulky groups increase the steric hindrance around the chelating site, which can enhance the stability of metal complexes and improve their pharmacokinetic properties, such as reducing non-specific binding and enhancing lipophilicity.
