Mono-6-Iodo-6-deoxy-beta-Cyclodextrin (I-βCD) is a derivative of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), where one of the hydroxyl groups at the C-6 position of a glucose unit in the cyclodextrin ring is replaced with an iodine atom. The C-6 iodine in I-βCD can participate in cross-coupling reactions, such as Suzuki-Miyaura, Sonogashira, or Heck couplings, allowing the formation of C-C bonds and the attachment of various organic moieties to the cyclodextrin ring. This versatility allows for the creation of cyclodextrin derivatives with highly specific functionalities.
