Description

Azide-derivatized PDMA-b-P(NIPAM-co-NAS) is a block copolymer that combines poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) (PDMA) with a thermo-responsive copolymer block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and N-acryloyloxysuccinimide (NAS). PDMA is a hydrophilic, non-ionic polymer known for its excellent water solubility and biocompatibility. It acts as a solubilizing segment, ensuring the copolymer remains stable and dispersed in water. PNIPAM is soluble in water, but as the temperature rises above the LCST, it becomes hydrophobic and undergoes a coil-to-globule transition, making it useful for temperature-sensitive applications such as drug delivery or smart materials. NAS (N-acryloyloxysuccinimide) is a reactive monomer that introduces N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester groups into the copolymer. These NHS esters are highly reactive toward amine groups, enabling the covalent attachment of biomolecules such as peptides, proteins, or drugs to the polymer backbone.
