PAMAM-PEG-WGA-Tf (Polyamidoamine dendrimer-PEG-Wheat germ agglutinin-Transferrin) is a multifunctional nanocarrier that combines polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers with polyethylene glycol (PEG), wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), and transferrin (Tf). PEG is a hydrophilic polymer that increases solubility, stability, and biocompatibility. WGA is a plant lectin that binds specifically to N-acetylglucosamine and sialic acid residues, which are often present on the surfaces of cancer cells. Transferrin is a glycoprotein that transports iron in the bloodstream. Many cancer cells overexpress transferrin receptors to meet their increased iron demands. PAMAM dendrimers are commonly utilized in pharmaceuticals for targeted drug delivery and gene therapy, in diagnostics as biosensors and imaging agents, in cosmetics for active ingredient delivery, and in materials science for enhancing properties in nanocomposites and catalysts.
