1,2-Dioleoyl-sn–glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DOPE)-polyethylene glycol-Biotin (DOPE-PEG-Biotin) is a conjugate in which a PEG chain is covalently linked to the DOPE lipid molecule, and Biotin is introduced to the PEG portion. This combination leverages the stability provided by lipid-based systems (DOPE) and the enhanced circulation time of PEGylation. The incorporation of Biotin allows for specific binding to avidin-tagged molecules or surfaces.It is used to create nanoparticles that can be targeted to specific cells or tissues. When avidin-conjugated molecules are introduced, they can bind specifically to the biotin on the nanoparticle surface. This enables precise targeting of the nanoparticles for drug delivery, imaging, or other applications, which is particularly useful in research and diagnostic contexts.
