H-Cys(Trt)-2-ClTrt resin (S-Trityl-L-cysteine 2-chlorotrityl ester polymer-bound / H-CYS(TRT)-2-CHLOROTRITYL RESIN) incorporates cysteine (Cys) with a trifluoroacetyl (Trt) protecting group on its thiol side chain. The resin can be used to synthesize peptides that mimic folding intermediates or transition states, allowing researchers to investigate the kinetics and mechanisms of protein folding and misfolding. Given cysteine’s role in cellular redox reactions, peptides synthesized from this resin can also be used to study antioxidant mechanisms and develop potential therapeutic agents for conditions related to oxidative stress.
