Description

H-Cys(t-Bu)-2-CT Polystyrene Resin is designed to facilitate the efficient assembly of peptides containing cysteine residues. Cysteine is an amino acid with a thiol (-SH) group, making it reactive and critical for disulfide bond formation, metal binding, or chemical conjugation. The tert-butyl (t-Bu) group protects the thiol during synthesis, preventing unwanted oxidation or side reactions. This protecting group is stable under the conditions of SPPS but can be removed during final deprotection using trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) or other strong acids. The 2-CT linker is used to anchor the cysteine derivative to the resin. It provides a robust yet cleavable connection, ensuring stability during synthesis and controlled release of the peptide at the desired stage. The resin supports the stepwise addition of amino acids, starting with cysteine as the first amino acid anchored via its α-carboxyl group to the 2-CT linker.
