Description

Cationic Liposomes DMTAP/DOPE, Lyophilized Powder are made from DMTAP (Dimethyldioctadecylammonium Propane) and DOPE (1,2-Dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) which are commonly used in the delivery of genetic material (e.g., DNA, RNA) and other therapeutic agents due to their ability to interact with negatively charged molecules like nucleic acids. DMTAP is a cationic lipid, which means it carries a positive charge. This positive charge facilitates the electrostatic interaction between the liposomes and negatively charged molecules such as DNA, RNA, or proteins. DMTAP’s role is critical for improving DNA encapsulation and transfection efficiency in gene therapy applications. DOPE is a neutral phospholipid, which helps to stabilize the liposomal structure and contribute to the membrane fluidity, making the liposomes more flexible and easier to fuse with cell membranes. This is especially important in applications involving cellular uptake.
