Description

Polystyrene A OH is widely used as a support resin for solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). In this process, the first amino acid is attached to the hydroxylated polystyrene surface via a linker group. The hydroxyl groups on the polystyrene A OH act as functional sites where the first peptide-building block can be attached. The subsequent addition of amino acids to the growing peptide chain is accomplished in a stepwise manner, with the peptide being cleaved from the resin once the synthesis is complete. The presence of hydroxyl groups increases the reactivity of the resin, enabling efficient coupling reactions with peptide building blocks. Polystyrene resin is an essential material for a wide range of uses in research, diagnostics, medical devices, and multiple industial applications from packaging to construction.
