Fmoc-Cys(Trt) Low Crosslinked Polystyrene-PEG S TRT Resin (Fmoc-Cys(Trt) Low Crosslinked Polystyrene-PEG S Trityl Resin) is used for synthesizing peptides containing cysteine, which requires protection due to the highly reactive nature of the thiol group in cysteine. The Trt group ensures that the thiol side chain of cysteine remains protected throughout the synthesis process, preventing oxidation or side reactions that could interfere with peptide elongation. After the completion of peptide synthesis, the trityl group can be removed under mild acidic conditions (such as with TFA), revealing the thiol group for subsequent reactions.
