Fmoc-L-Arg(Pbf)-NHN=Pyv Resin (Fmoc-N’-2,2,4,6,7-pentamethyldihydrobenzofuran-5-sulfonyl-L-arginyl-hydrazono-pyruvyl-aminomethylpolystyrene resin) is a solid-phase resin used for peptide hydrazide synthesis. Peptide hydrazides are valuable intermediates in native chemical ligation (NCL), a technique used to link peptides together to form longer chains, including synthetic proteins. The Fmoc group protects the N-terminal of the amino acid, allowing peptides to be built in a controlled sequence. Arginine (Arg, R) is a positively charged amino acid that plays an essential role in protein interactions, enzymatic functions, and molecular recognition. The Pbf (pentamethyldihydrobenzofuran-5-sulfonyl) group protects the guanidinium side chain of arginine. This protection ensures that side reactions are minimized during synthesis. The pyruvyl (-CO-CH3) component stabilizes this linker, preventing unwanted breakdown. The aminomethyl polystyrene resin serves as the backbone, providing chemical stability.
