Cadmium Selenide Zinc Sulfide Quantum Dots (CdSe/ZnS QDs) are investigated for use in solar cells to improve light absorption and energy conversion efficiency. The ZnS shell passivates the surface of the CdSe core, reducing non-radiative recombination of electrons and holes. This results in higher quantum yields, meaning the quantum dots emit more light when excited, making them exceptionally bright.
