1,2-Bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2-diphenylethene (TPE-OMe) is a hydroxy-group protected aggregation-induced emission (AIE) material used in the synthesis of blue mitochandrial dye. It is known as stilbene or trans-stilbene, and it belongs to the stilbene family of organic compounds. Stilbenes are characterized by a central ethylene double bond (C=C) that connects two aromatic rings. 1,2-Bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2-diphenylethene has been widely used in photochemical studies. It exhibits strong photoisomerization properties, especially when exposed to UV light.
