Description

300nm DOPC/CHOL Liposomes, Lyophilized Powder are lipid vesicles made from two main components: Dioleoylphosphatidylcholine (DOPC) and cholesterol (CHOL). The fluidity and bilayer-forming ability of DOPC make it an ideal lipid for creating stable liposomes. Its unsaturated fatty acids prevent the liposome from becoming too rigid at physiological temperatures, making the liposomes flexible and able to fuse with other membranes. Cholesterol plays a critical role in modulating the fluidity and stability of liposomal membranes. It reduces the permeability of the membrane to small molecules and helps maintain membrane integrity under various conditions. It can also promote the formation of lipid rafts, which are microdomains in the membrane associated with cellular signaling. The use of DOPC/CHOL Liposomes extends to targeted therapeutics, vaccine delivery, and cellular studies, highlighting their importance in modern scientific research and pharmaceutical development.
