4-Aminobutyl-DOTA (1,4,7,10-Tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7-tris(acetic acid)-10-(4-aminobutyl)acetamide) is often conjugated to biomolecules such as peptides, antibodies, or proteins for specific targeting of tumors or other diseased tissues in diagnostic imaging (such as positron emission tomography, PET) or targeted radiotherapy. The chelating properties of DOTA allow for the stable complexation of radiometals, while the amino butyl group provides a linker for attaching the biomolecule of interest.
