[4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenoxymethyl]polystyrene resin (4-Benzyloxybenzyl alcohol, polymer-bound / p-Alkoxybenzyl alcohol, polymer-bound / Wang resin) can be utilized in the construction of compound libraries for high-throughput screening in drug discovery. The ability to couple various building blocks to the resin allows for the rapid generation of diverse chemical libraries. Wang resin can also facilitate the preparation of ADCs, where cytotoxic drugs are conjugated to antibodies for targeted cancer therapy. The hydroxymethyl group allows for selective attachment of the drug to the antibody.
