5-OH-TCO (rel-(1R,4E,pR)-Cyclooct-4-enol / (E)-CYCLOOCT-4-ENOL / TCO-OH) is a modified form of trans-cyclooctene (TCO) that incorporates a hydroxyl group at the 5-position of the cyclooctene ring. The presence of the hydroxyl group (-OH) at the 5-position introduces a functional group that can participate in additional chemistry, such as hydrogen bonding, or can be used for further chemical modifications. 5-OH-TCO can be used for selective labeling of tetrazine-modified biomolecules. The bioorthogonal reaction allows for efficient and specific conjugation in complex biological environments, making it useful for tracking proteins and other targets.
