A-NPD or α-NPD or N,N′-Bis(naphthalen-1-yl)-N,N′-bis(phenyl)-2,2′-dimethylbenzidine is a commonly used organic semiconductor material in the field of organic electronics. In OPVs, α-NPD can serve as an electron-blocking layer (EBL) or a hole-transporting layer (HTL), depending on device architecture. As an EBL, it prevents electron leakage and enhances charge generation and collection efficiency. As an HTL, it facilitates hole extraction and transport to the anode.
