AAL Toxin TC2 ([1R-[1R*(R*),1(R*),2S*,4S*,13S*]]-1-[14-Amino-2,13-dihydroxy-4-methyl-1-(1-methylpropyl)tetradecyl]ester-1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic Acid / (2R)​-1-​[(1R,​2S,​4S,​13S)​-​14-​Amino-​2,​13-​dihydroxy-​4-​methyl-​1-​[(1R)​-​1-​methylpropyl]​tetradecyl]ester-1,​2,​3-​Propanetricarboxylic Acid), produced by the fungus Alternaria alternata, is part of the sphinganine analog mycotoxins (SAMs) class. AAL toxin TC2 can be used to screen plant varieties for resistance to Alternaria infections. Identifying resistant traits can aid in breeding programs aimed at developing disease-resistant crops. It can also be used to study interactions with various pharmacological agents, potentially identifying drug candidates that can counteract its toxic effects or that leverage its mechanism for therapeutic benefit.
