Aflatoxin M1-d3 (6aR,9aR)-2,3,6a,9a-Tetrahydro-9a-hydroxy-4-(methoxy-d3)-cyclopenta[c]furo[3’,2’:4,5]furo[2,3-h][1]benzopyran-1,11-dione; AFM1-d3) is a deuterium-labeled derivative of aflatoxin M1, a mycotoxin produced by Aspergillus flavus. Aflatoxin M1-d3 is used as an internal standard in quantitative mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). By providing a known quantity of a deuterium-labeled version of aflatoxin M1, it allows for accurate calibration and quantification of aflatoxin M1 in complex samples. This is crucial for ensuring reliable results in the measurement of aflatoxin contamination. Aflatoxin M1-d3 is also used in toxicological studies to investigate the toxicity and health effects of aflatoxin M1.
