Description

Alkyne PNIPAm (Alkynyl PNIPAM) is a modified version of Poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) where the polymer backbone contains alkyne functional groups. The alkynyl PNIPAM exhibits a phase transition around its lower critical solution temperature (LCST). The introduction of the alkyne group does not significantly alter the LCST but can affect the phase transition behavior depending on the alkyne content. Alkynyl PNIPAM can be used to create smart hydrogels with temperature-responsive properties and reactive alkyne groups for functionalization with biomolecules or growth factors. In addition, the reactivity of the alkyne groups can be exploited in the development of sensors for detecting specific analytes through chemical interactions.
