It is a polyketide compound known for its broad range of biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties. Ascochlorin has been shown to induce apoptosis in various cancer cell lines, making it a potential candidate for cancer therapy. It works by activating apoptotic pathways and inhibiting cell proliferation. In addition, it has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties by modulating key inflammatory pathways, such as inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reducing the activity of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB).
