Description

Azide-Silicon phthalocyanines integrates the photodynamic properties of silicon phthalocyanines, which are used in photodynamic therapy (PDT), with the reactivity of azide groups for bio-conjugation via click chemistry. Silicon phthalocyanines have intrinsic fluorescence properties, making them useful for imaging applications. By attaching fluorescent dyes or contrast agents to the azide group, SiPc can be modified for use in molecular imaging and diagnostics, enabling visualization of tumor tissues or specific biological processes. The azide group allows SiPc to be conjugated with targeting molecules, enabling selective imaging of specific cells, such as cancer cells that overexpress certain receptors (e.g., integrins, HER2).
