Description

Azido-PEG4-MMAE can be conjugated to antibodies targeting specific cancer antigens to form ADCs. Upon binding to cancer cells, the ADCs are internalized, releasing MMAE intracellularly, where it exerts its cytotoxic effects, leading to cancer cell death while sparing healthy cells. Azido is a functional group containing a nitrogen atom bonded to two carbon atoms via double bonds and a terminal nitrogen atom bonded to one of the carbon atoms via a triple bond. It is commonly used in bioconjugation chemistry due to its ability to undergo click chemistry reactions, such as copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) or strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC).
