Biotin disulfide N-hydroxysuccinimide ester or (2-[Biotinamido]ethylamido)-3,3′-dithiodipropionic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester consists of a biotin molecule linked to an NHS ester and a disulfide bond. It is commonly used to label proteins and peptides with biotin. The NHS ester reacts with primary amines (typically lysine residues) on the protein or peptide, forming a stable amide bond. This biotinylation allows for subsequent detection, purification, or immobilization of the labeled biomolecules using streptavidin or avidin.
