Description

Biotin-PEG2-C1-aldehyde is a compound which is used to label proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, or other biomolecules. The aldehyde group (-CHO) can react with primary amines (-NH2) of biomolecules to form Schiff bases, which can then be stabilized or reduced to form stable linkages, allowing for biotinylation of the biomolecule. It is also employed in diagnostic assays where biotinylated probes are needed for detection or immobilization purposes, such as in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) or lateral flow assays.
