Description

Biotin-PEG3-MAL combines the high-affinity binding of biotin with the selective and stable conjugation chemistry of maleimide. This compound is used for labeling molecules or surfaces that contain free sulfhydryl groups (–SH). For example, proteins or peptides that have been engineered to expose cysteine residues can be labeled with Biotin-PEG3-MAL. This labeling allows for subsequent detection or purification using streptavidin or avidin-based methods. In addition, maleimide chemistry is highly selective for sulfhydryl groups, enabling site-specific conjugation of Biotin-PEG3-MAL to biomolecules without affecting other functional groups present in the molecule.
