Description

Biotin-PEG5-NH-Boc is a chemical compound that consists of biotin, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer, an amino group (NH), and a tert-butoxycarbonyl (Boc) protecting group. It can modify surfaces or nanoparticles with biotin for subsequent attachment of streptavidin-conjugated molecules or probes. This is useful in creating biocompatible surfaces for biosensors, diagnostics, or targeted drug delivery systems. In addition, the Boc protecting group on the amino group of Biotin-PEG5-NH-Boc is useful in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). It protects the amino group of amino acids during peptide chain elongation and can be selectively removed to expose the free amino group for further peptide coupling reactions.
