(+)-Biotin-Sarcosine or [{5-[(3aS,4S,6aR)-2-Oxohexahydro-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-4-yl]pentanoyl}(methyl)amino]acetic acid is a derivative of biotin (vitamin H or vitamin B7) where the amino acid sarcosine (N-methylglycine) is attached to biotin. It is commonly used as a probe in biotin-binding assays to study avidin and streptavidin proteins. These proteins have a high affinity for biotin, and (+)-biotin-sarcosine can mimic biotin in binding interactions, making it valuable in understanding the specificity and binding characteristics of these proteins.
