Carboxyl Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (Carboxylic Acid Functionalized Iron Oxide(II,III) / Fe3O4 / Magnetite, Fe NP COOH) are primarily composed of iron (Fe) and oxygen (O) atoms, forming magnetite (Fe3O4). The carboxyl groups (-COOH) are chemically bonded to the nanoparticle surface. Carboxyl iron oxide nanoparticles can be used to remove contaminants from water and wastewater through adsorption and magnetic separation processes. In MRI, they can enhance contrast in imaging when administered to patients as a contrast agent.
