Carumonam Disodium Salt ([[(2Z)-[2-[[(2S,3S)-2-[[(Aminocarbonyl)oxy]methyl]-4-oxo-1-sulfo-3-azetidinyl]amino]-1-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-oxoethylidene]amino]oxy]-acetic Acid Disodium Salt / Amasulin / Carumonam Disodium Salt / Carumonam Sodium; Mobactam) features a monocyclic β-lactam ring, distinguishing it from other β-lactam antibiotics like penicillins and cephalosporins which have bicyclic structures. Carumonam is effective against a wide range of gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Serratia marcescens. It is particularly useful in treating infections where these bacteria are resistant to other antibiotics. In addition, it is effective in treating complicated and uncomplicated UTIs.
