Chitosan, Cy5 Labeled refers to chitosan, a biocompatible and biodegradable polysaccharide, that has been conjugated or labeled with Cy5, a fluorescent dye molecule. Cy5 is a cyanine dye that emits red fluorescence upon excitation with light of an appropriate wavelength. Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide derived from chitin, found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs, as well as from fungal sources. It is composed of repeating units of glucosamine and N-acetylglucosamine.
