Description

DBCO-PEG2-Maleimide combines DBCO (Dibenzocyclooctyne) with a PEG2 (Polyethylene Glycol with 2 ethylene glycol units) linker and a maleimide functional group. DBCO reacts selectively and rapidly with azide groups (-N3), forming stable triazole linkages under mild conditions. PEGylation (attachment of PEG chains) enhances solubility, stability, and biocompatibility of molecules, particularly in biomedical applications. Maleimide chemistry is commonly used for conjugating proteins or peptides that have been modified to expose thiol groups through reduction of disulfide bonds.
