Description

Diaminodibenzo-18-crown-6 consists of a 18-membered ring formed by six oxygen atoms, two nitrogen atoms, and two benzene rings. The nitrogen atoms are connected to each other by a methylene bridge, creating a diamino group. Crown ethers are used in ion-selective electrodes, ion chromatography, and liquid-liquid extraction techniques to selectively capture and transport specific metal ions or cations. They can also serve as phase-transfer catalysts in organic synthesis, facilitating the transfer of ions or charged molecules between immiscible phases.
