DOPG is an anionic phospholipid, meaning it carries a negative charge due to its phosphate group. This negatively charged property can influence the surface charge of liposomes, affecting their interactions with other molecules and cells. DOPC is a zwitterionic phospholipid, meaning it has both positive and negative charges within the same molecule, resulting in no net charge. DOPC is commonly used in liposome formulations due to its biocompatibility and resemblance to natural cell membranes.
