Description

DOTA-PSMA-Tz is a multifunctional compound that combines several key elements: DOTA (a chelating agent), PSMA (Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen), and Tz (Tetrazine). DOTA is a well-known chelator that binds to various metal ions, especially radionuclides, which are used in radiotherapy or imaging. When complexed with a radiometal (such as Lutetium-177 or Gallium-68), DOTA provides stability to the radiolabeled compound, facilitating its use in medical diagnostics or therapy. PSMA is a protein overexpressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells, making it an excellent target for prostate cancer diagnosis and therapy. PSMA ligands enable the selective targeting of prostate cancer cells, ensuring that the attached therapeutic or imaging agents localize specifically in the tumor. Tetrazine is a functional group used in bioorthogonal reactions, particularly in inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) cycloaddition reactions with trans-cyclooctene (TCO). The Tz group allows for the rapid and selective binding of DOTA-PSMA-Tz to TCO-modified molecules, enabling precision in labeling and targeting.
