The term “epi” indicates that it is a specific stereoisomer of γ-cyhalothrin. γ-Cyhalothrin is characterized by its pyrethroid structure, which typically includes a cyano group, a phenoxy group, and a cyclopropane ring attached to the central ester moiety. As a pyrethroid derivative, epi-γ-cyhalothrin is used to control a broad range of insects. It works by disrupting the nervous system of insects, leading to paralysis and death. Epi-γ-cyhalothrin can also be used in vector control programs to manage populations of disease-carrying insects such as mosquitoes.
