Description

Fmoc-aminooxy-PEG12-NHS ester is a chemical compound widely used in bioconjugation and drug delivery applications. Fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl (Fmoc) is a protecting group commonly used in peptide synthesis. It protects the amine group of amino acids, allowing selective deprotection and coupling reactions. The aminooxy group (-ONH2) is a functional group containing both an amino group and an oxime group. It is often used in bioconjugation reactions because it can selectively react with carbonyl groups, such as aldehydes and ketones, to form stable oxime linkages. N-Hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) esters are commonly used as reactive intermediates for amine coupling reactions. NHS esters react selectively with primary amines to form stable amide bonds. PEGylation, the covalent attachment of PEG chains to molecules, is widely used in drug delivery to improve pharmacokinetic properties, increase solubility, and reduce immunogenicity.
