Description

Fmoc-Cys(StBu)-Wang PEG-Polystyrene Resin is suited for synthesizing peptides that contain cysteine residues (Cys), especially in cases where disulfide bond formation must be controlled or prevented during the synthetic process. Cysteine (Cys) is an amino acid with a thiol (-SH) group, which can be reactive and prone to oxidation or disulfide bond formation. StBu (S-tert-butyl) protection is a more robust thiol protecting group compared to tBu (which is used for side-chain amine protection). The StBu group is often used because it provides a more sterically hindered and stable protection for the cysteine thiol. Polystyrene resin is an essential material for a wide range of uses in research, diagnostics, medical devices, and multiple industial applications from packaging to construction.
