Fmoc-D-Lys(Biotin)-OH (Nα-(9-Fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl)-Nε-biotinyl-D-lysine, N2-(((9H-Fluoren-9-yl)methoxy)carbonyl)-N6-(5-((3aS,4S,6aR)-2-oxohexahydro-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-4-yl)pentanoyl)-D-lysine, Biotinylated Fmoc-protected D-lysine) is used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) as a building block to introduce biotin into peptides. The Fmoc group protects the lysine amine, allowing for stepwise peptide chain elongation on a solid support. It is also valuable for studying streptavidin-biotin interactions. It allows for the investigation of binding kinetics, affinity, and specificity of streptavidin for biotinylated molecules.
