Description

Free Biotin Assay Medium is used to measure the concentration of free (unbound) biotin in biological samples. Biotin is a vital nutrient and is often supplemented in cell culture media and other biological preparations. Assessing the free biotin content is crucial for quality control and experimental consistency. In the assay, free biotin in the sample competes with a labeled biotin analog (e.g., biotin-BSA conjugate) for binding sites on the BBP. The amount of labeled biotin bound to BBP is inversely proportional to the concentration of free biotin in the sample. By measuring the signal from the labeled reporter molecule, the concentration of free biotin can be determined.
