H-Cys(Trt)-2-Chlorotrityl Polystyrene Resin is a solid-phase resin for peptide synthesis, where the Cys(Trt) refers to cysteine with the Trt (Trityl) protecting group on its thiol side chain. The Trt group prevents unwanted oxidation or disulfide bond formation between cysteine residues during the peptide synthesis process, making it a popular choice for peptides containing cysteine where disulfide bonds are not needed immediately. The 2-Chlorotrityl group is reactive with amines, allowing it to serve as the point of attachment for the first amino acid in a peptide synthesis sequence. It is widely used in peptide synthesis because it is stable under typical peptide synthesis conditions but can be cleaved later by a mild nucleophilic displacement reaction.
