HA-Tz (Hyaluronic acid-Tetrazine / HA-Tet / HA-tetrazine) is a complex that combines the biological and chemical properties of hyaluronic acid and tetrazine. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in connective tissues, skin, and joint fluids. It consists of repeating disaccharide units of N-acetylglucosamine and glucuronic acid. HA is known for its ability to retain water, lubricate joints, and promote tissue repair. It has applications in cosmetics, medicine, and tissue engineering. HA binds specifically to CD44 receptors, which are overexpressed on many cancer cells and inflamed tissues. Conjugating tetrazine to HA can enhance targeted delivery of drugs or therapeutic agents to these cells or tissues.
